Self Red C Section
On 22nd May 2015 my Beautiful Satin Self Red was full term and ready to have her babies but something was wrong she had been bleeding down there for a few days so on this day we took her to Kelburn Small pet vets to see Brendon a vet that knows his Guinea Pigs a Rabbits. He took a X- Ray of Glory and soon realized that one baby was blocking her pelvis so she couldn't have them. He said she will need to have a C Section and it would be his first ever C Section he has done on a Guinea Pig. She was prepared for surgery and we were told that she had at least 3 babies and that they will need a hand after they are born, so we waited in the waiting room while he done the surgery , then they called us in to rub the babies to simulate their breathing and to dry them while they stitched Glory up. They were so sweet and perfect mummy Glory was slowly waking up and she had a nice water bottle to keep her warm. She then was reunited with her babies.. The vet clamped all the babies cords and then checked them all over they seemed all fine and good weights . A couple hours later they were all ready to go home, we thanked the vet and off we went home with 5 self red babies 2 more than expected and one tired mummy. Glory kept her babies warm but after a week sweet Glory gave up and passed away in my arms we were told she may not make it as its alot on a Guinea pig to have surgery like that. But if we didn't do it they would all Died. I miss her alot she was such a sweet girl but we have 5 healthy babies . After Glory died 3 of them went to foster moms and we kept 2 here and hand raised them on wombaroo milk formula that milk is amazing .The babies are now all 14 weeks old and doing fantastic at their new homes. I did keep 2 sows and they are just stunning.
